Sewing the five star centers can be daunting if it’s your first time. Personally, it took me a fair bit of time, but I finally got the hang of it. When using the Flat Back Stitch, connecting your five star rosette centers can become a little easier. This is what you need to do:
When folding the 5 diamond shapes you have to fold them all the same way that way the little tails slide together at the center point. First line up the 5 shapes going the same way.
Next flip them over keeping them in the same direction and glue baste one side. After this, glue base the other side. Now they are all folded the same way.
The tails of the diamonds interlock with each other. When sewing the diamonds together you have to fold down the tail to get to the point. See below.
Makes for much easier sewing and the tails don’t get in the way and slide together.
